one person's criticism sends me to the moon

here's the deal.

i'm raising dragons
they scream and rumble and fly
off of furniture and into bodies
they demand and purr and
burn

i'm raising tigers
they nap and claw and snarl
over food and playthings
they lick with rough tongues
wetly

i'm raising hapa kids
who will have strength and wisdom to face
racist
sexist
assumptions of everyone around them with
resilience and humor

they will SNARL
they with RUMBLE
they will DEMAND

they will look into those boxes
you want to shove them in

and they will burn them.

they will say
NAH
